chan rou

Chan Rou―the Chinese version of Gyrotonic―is recognized around the world as one of the most advanced conditioning systems.  Rebecca Total Wellbeing is the first and, to date, only facility in China to offer exclusive professionally managed Chan Rou training, which combines elements of Tai Chi, yoga, swimming, ballet, Qi Gong and gymnastics.

Chan Rou movements increase mobility, flexibility, coordination, and strength through circular, zero-impact motions.  Through full body integration of movement and breathing patterns, Chan Rou exercises enhance aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation and promote neuromuscular rejuvenation.  Unique to Chan Rou, the circularity, spiraling and undulating movements increase the functional capacity of the spine and create a spherical and three-dimensional awareness, resulting in total equilibrium, correct structural alignment, core strength, and relaxation.

The Pilates method of body conditioning, like Chan Rou, offers a complete physical and mental workout.  Borrowing elements from both eastern and western approaches to fitness training, including boxing, gymnastics, and the martial arts, Pilates is designed around the classical Greek ideal of equally developing body, mind and soul. At the core of Pilates are six guiding principles - breathing, centering, control, concentration, precision, alignment, and flowing movement - that make for a more complete and satisfying integration and acceleration of body, mind and soul.
